AAO-HNS Comments on CY 2027 OPPS/ASC Payment Systems Proposed Rule

The AAO-HNS submitted a comment letter on August 25 to CMS regarding proposed revisions to the Medicare Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS) and Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC) Payment System for calendar year 2027. The Academy’s comments addressed several policies affecting otolaryngology, including ASC payment updates and covered procedures, site-neutral payment for imaging services, APC assignments for hypoglossal nerve stimulation, prior authorization for botulinum toxin injections, and device-intensive procedures. The Academy will provide further updates to members following the final rule’s anticipated release this November.
