AAO-HNSF Announces 2026 Guidelines Leadership Scholars
The AAO-HNSF is pleased to announce the selection of six exceptional scholars for the 2026 Guidelines Leadership Scholars Program. Following a highly competitive application cycle and an outstanding pool of candidates, the following individuals were selected:
- Rogerio Dedivitis, MD, PhD – University of São Paulo School of Medicine
- Jamie Funamura, MD, MPH – University of California, Davis
- Kent Lam, MD – Eastern Virginia Medical School at Old Dominion University
- Chadi Makary, MD – West Virginia University
- Daniel O’Brien, MD, MAS, FRCSC – University of Manitoba
- Rebecca Paquin, DMD, MD – Children’s Hospital Colorado, University of Colorado Anschutz
Formerly known as the Cochrane/GIN Scholars Program, the Guidelines Leadership Scholars Program is designed to prepare the next generation of leaders in clinical practice guidelines and expert consensus statements. Through participation in the annual Guidelines International Network 
(GIN) Conference and focused training in systematic review development, scholars gain hands-on experience in evidence synthesis, critical appraisal, and guideline methodology. A core component of the program includes training in systematic review development, equipping scholars with essential skills in methodology, critical appraisal, and evidence synthesis. The program’s long-term vision is to cultivate scholars into future methodologists and leaders in guideline and consensus development by advancing their expertise and fostering innovation, rigor, and excellence in clinical guidance.

AAO-HNS/F leadership and the publisher of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery will provide travel grants for the selected scholars to attend the 2026 Guidelines International Network (GIN) Conference, taking place September 15–18, 2026, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
